biog Sparkling acoustic tunes that leave you smiling at what it is to be human. Brett Robin Wood is an urban folk storyteller. He's been called "The Michael Leunig of Singer/Songwriters" and “Charlie Chaplin meets Leonard Cohen.” Think Billy Bragg, Josh Pyke, The Shins, Loudon Wainwright, Paul Kelly, Steve Poltz, Fred Smith. With spontaneity & humour Brett reveals the curious ways of the heart and the intricate maze of the mind, beautifully capturing the experience of being human. He's often joined by the beautiful Liz Frencham who lends her gorgeous semi acoustic bass playing and honey soaked backing vocals into the mix. In his new studio CD Likely Stories Brett and his band craft these acoustic folk gems into buoyant and glimmering and folk-pop. Brett’s a regular at Sydney venues including Mocean, Side-on Café, Cabaret Voltaire, the Cat and Fiddle, the Harp Irish Pub, the Sandringham & the Vanguard. He’s played at Australian music festivals including The National Folk Festival [ACT], Nannup [WA], The Mount Beauty Music Muster [VIC] and Coastfest [NSW]. Brett also produces “Urban Folk Bliss” a regular Sydney concert of wonderful ‘unplugged’ evenings with quality indie artists such as Liz Frencham, Jodie Martin, Kat Frankie, Fred Smith and Jackie Bristow.
